About DishGuessr
DishGuessr is a free browser game that turns your curiosity about food into a lesson in world geography. Every round shows you a photo of a real dish — from famous street food to regional home cooking — and asks a single question: where in the world does it come from? You place your guess on an interactive world map, and the closer you are to the true country of origin, the more points you score.
The game currently features 123 dishes from 123 countries, each with its own photograph, list of key ingredients, and a short description of what makes it distinctive. We built DishGuessr because we love the way food tells the story of a place — its climate, its history, and the people who make it. Guessing where a dish is from is a surprisingly fun way to travel the world without leaving your kitchen table.
How the game works
Each solo game is five rounds long. You get up to five guesses per dish, and your score depends on how close your guess lands to the correct country. You can also create a private lobby and play in real time with up to eight friends. For a full walk-through of the rules and scoring, see our How to Play guide.
Our content and sources
Dish descriptions are written and curated by our team to be informative and spoiler-light during play. Every dish photograph is sourced from Wikimedia Commons under licenses that permit reuse, so that we can share the beauty of world cuisine while respecting the photographers who capture it. You can browse the full collection in our Dish Encyclopedia.
